Studies indicate that epicatechin undergoes extensive metabolic transformation after oral consumption, meaning findings from cell-based studies may not translate straightforwardly to effects in living humans, and several of the supporting studies examined epicatechin as part of mixed-compound preparations rather than in isolation.
