Findings are not uniformly positive — a pilot study in cancer patients found poor tolerability and no meaningful appetite improvement from a ginger, turmeric, and gentian combination, and an animal study found no significant appetite-stimulating effect from wormwood extract — while safety reviews note that prolonged use of wormwood essential oil has been associated with neurological side effects.
