Cumin (Black Cumin / Kalonji) for Allergy Relief

Insufficient evidence 2 studies

Research suggests that black cumin may have potential relevance to allergy relief, primarily through its ability to modulate immune and inflammatory pathways. One animal study found that a herbal blend containing black cumin appeared to shift immune responses away from the allergy-promoting Th2 pathway and reduce markers of allergic inflammation, including histamine and IgE levels, in mice with induced allergic rhinitis. A 2025 narrative review further supports the notion that black cumin, alongside other traditional medicinal plants, can influence key inflammatory signaling mechanisms at the molecular level. However, the available evidence is limited to an animal model and a general review of anti-inflammatory properties rather than clinical trials in human allergy patients, meaning these findings are preliminary and cannot yet be translated into confirmed therapeutic guidance for people with allergies.
